Who we are

PostView: Postage Estimator is a Shopify app operated under the PostView: Postage Estimator name. It helps shoppers see shipping options from a merchant’s existing Shopify shipping settings before they reach checkout. Merchants can offer that estimate on the cart page and, where the theme allows, in the cart drawer.

We provide the app and the public website that describes it. If you have a privacy question, email support@postage-estimator.com.

Information we use

When a merchant installs and uses PostView: Postage Estimator, Shopify supplies basic store and account information needed to set up the app for that shop. This typically includes the store’s identity and the details needed for the merchant to open and use the app.

We keep merchant settings and general information about estimate use so the app can work as expected and so the merchant can see how it is being used. That information belongs to the store, not to an individual shopper’s customer account.

When a shopper asks for a shipping estimate, they may select a country and enter a postcode. Those destination details are used to obtain shipping options for that request. PostView: Postage Estimator does not connect those destination details to a customer account, name, email address, phone number, order history, or payment information.

PostView: Postage Estimator does not access or store customer names, contact details, payment information, or order history.

If you email us for support, we use the information you include — such as your email address, your message, and any shop name you mention — so that we can reply.

How we use information

We use the information described above to provide the app, keep it secure, offer support, and meet our legal obligations. In practice that means installing the app on the merchant’s store, applying the merchant’s settings, showing shipping options when someone asks for an estimate, helping the merchant understand general use of the app, and answering questions sent to our support email.

We do not sell information. We do not use it for advertising.

Sharing and service providers

PostView: Postage Estimator runs on Shopify. Shopify already holds the merchant’s store and account information, and it is the platform through which the app is installed and used.

Trusted service providers may also handle limited information where that is necessary to operate the app, look up a destination so shipping options can be shown, or deliver support. They may use that information only to provide those services to us.

Retention and security

If a merchant uninstalls PostView: Postage Estimator, after 30 days stored data relating to your store is permanently deleted from PostView: Postage Estimator's records. You may request earlier deletion by contacting us

Your rights and contact details

Depending on where you are, you may have the right to ask what information we hold, to ask us to correct it, or to ask us to delete it. To make a request, email support@postage-estimator.com. We may need to check that the request comes from someone allowed to act for the relevant Shopify store. Naming the store in your message helps us find the right records.

PostView: Postage Estimator does not hold a shopper’s customer account. Questions about a buyer’s information in a merchant’s Shopify store should be raised with the merchant or with Shopify.

Please do not include payment card details or passwords in privacy or support email.

If you have a concern about how we handle information, please contact us first so we can try to help. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), which oversees data protection in the United Kingdom: https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/.

We may update this notice from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page. If you continue to use PostView: Postage Estimator after an update, the revised notice applies.
